Local Review Board
I would like to welcome you to the Featherstone Academy and its Local Review Board (“LRB”). t is a 11-16 secondary academy which is rated Good by Ofsted.
The LRB is formed from co-opted members who have skills which aids the Governance of the Academy, Parents and members of staff. The purpose of the LRB is to provide oversight, challenge and support of the Academy including reviewing the Academy’s progress against its improvement plan, student attainment and how it engages with students, parents, staff and the wider community.
The LRB formally meets at least 6 times in the academic year and considers Academy standards, the quality of provision, admissions and exclusions, financial and premises management of the Academy including Health & Safety and the use of ICT.
As part of evaluating the academic provision provided, the LRB considers academy targets and performance, leadership and outcome and the Academy’s Curriculum.
In addition to its formal meetings, LRB members come into the Academy and speak with staff and students about their perception of the Academy, meet with Ofsted when they come into the Academy and sit on exclusion and complaints panels.

Jackie Bavester
Jackie holds a degree in Housing and the Built Environment from Leeds Metropolitan University and a postgraduate degree in Strategic Management. With over 20 years of experience in social housing, she currently serves as the Head of Governance and Risk Management at a social housing provider in Lancashire.
Throughout her career Jackie has worked closely with members of the local community and has been pivotal in shaping housing services for residents in the Wakefield area.
Jackie lives in Ackworth and enjoys socialising with friends and family, particularly watching her grandsons playing for local rugby teams.
Alex Tosh
Alex is the Editor on the Phonics Team at Twinkl Educational Publishing and is currently working on a new phonics programme to support learners with complex needs to secure functional reading. Alex holds a Bachelor of Science degree (“BSc”) in Psychology in Education, Qualified Teaching Status (“QTS”), and is working towards ongoing Continuing Professional Development (“CPD”) in supporting learners with a range of needs.
Alex has a wealth of knowledge in Inclusion and EDI, including legal requirements and reasonable adjustments; safeguarding arrangements; SEND support in school; reading progression.
Alex lives in Featherstone and in her spare time enjoys gymnastics, gardening and DIY
